WHY I LEFT SWEDEN AT 18
The moment I blew out my birthday candles in Sweden, we booked the ticket to LA.
At the time, my life looked very different from the one I imagined for myself long term. I had dropped out of high school, was working retail, and felt disconnected from the kind of future I wanted to build for myself.
I wanted a completely different environment. To me, Los Angeles represented scale, diversity, ambition, creativity, and proximity to industries operating at a global level. I was drawn to the energy of a city where people came to reinvent themselves, build careers, and pursue things beyond what felt conventional or expected.
I did not move with a perfect plan or a built-in network. What I did have was the feeling that I needed to place myself somewhere that would challenge me and allow me to grow.
And it did.
Los Angeles is rigorous. The city moves quickly, expectations are high, and nobody slows down for you. But it also rewards people who continue adapting, building, and showing up consistently.
Through Santa Monica College, business studies, leadership roles, networking, Carmel Estates, and exposure to the real estate industry, I slowly started building the kind of future I originally came here for.
Looking back now, moving to Los Angeles at 18 was the decision that completely changed the direction of my life.
