REINVENTION
A few months after arriving in Los Angeles, I started realizing how much a person can change once they enter the right environment.
In Sweden, dropping out of high school is often treated as if you have permanently ruined your future. There is a strong expectation to follow a very specific path, and once you step outside of it, people quickly begin projecting limits onto you. By the time I left for Los Angeles, I was exhausted by the feeling that my life had already been decided for me before it had even properly begun.
Then suddenly, after moving to Los Angeles, something in me came back.
I started meeting people from completely different backgrounds, industries, and parts of the country who thought bigger, moved faster, and approached life with a level of ambition I had not experienced before. There was a kind of hunger in the air here that immediately stood out to me.
Los Angeles completely changed my perception of ambition. Before moving, success had always felt distant to me, almost like something reserved for a different type of person. But after arriving here, I realized that many successful people are far more ordinary than we imagine. The difference is that they made a move, placed themselves in the right environments, stayed consistent, and kept building.
For the first time in a long time, I felt mentally stimulated by my environment. I became deeply interested in business, branding, architecture, luxury real estate, and the psychology behind why people are drawn to certain lifestyles, spaces, and identities.
Around that same time, I earned Dean’s Honors during my first semester at Santa Monica College.
That moment meant a lot to me personally. After being heavily discouraged from dropping out of high school in Sweden, it felt validating to see myself succeeding in a completely different environment and educational system.
At the same time, I started building Carmel Estates.
Originally, the idea was simple. I wanted to document the process of building a future within luxury real estate and create something future clients could eventually look back on to understand my vision from the beginning.
